Many buyers only calculate the purchase price. The budget only becomes realistic once all additional costs are included.
Items to include
- Vehicle price: depends on condition and history
- Inspection on site: appraisal or viewing
- Transport: open or enclosed transport, or export plates with short-term insurance
- Documents: obtaining the COC, translations, certifications
- Taxes and duties: depending on the destination – customs, VAT, excise or registration tax
- Registration: inspection, registration, plates
EU country or non-EU?
Within the EU there is no customs duty; transport, documents and registration remain. For non-EU countries such as North Macedonia, customs clearance and homologation are added.
